Star Drill


            Above is the layout of the "Star" drill, as the title shows its self clearly. This is a Two-Man drill, but if no partner is available, you can always rebound the ball yourself, just adds to the practice.

Ok so the drill goes:

  1. Start in the 1st spot and have your partner pass you the for a shot. You cannot move on until you make this shot, after that it doesn't matter.
  2. After you make that shot you sprint to the 2nd spot while your partner rebounds and passes you the ball, then take another shot.
  3. Repeat step 2
  4. Repeat step 2
  5. Now after you get to this spot and shoot, you sprint back to spot #1 and take a final shot, ending the drill.
You can progress to running the drill 2, 3 times through with a 15, or 30 second break between each run-through.

                 *P.S. Your partner does not have to be someone who plays basketball. As long as you have someone to rebound and pass the drill can be preformed. But you do not even have to have a re-bounder, you can always rebound for your self if no one is available!

What does this drill focus on?


           This drill is meant to improve quickness and focuses on getting to a spot quickly, ready to receive and shoot the ball. IT IS NOT ABOUT SHOOTING QUICKLY!! Just because you're rushing to a spot doesn't mean to rush your shot; take your time!

Ok so this is my first blog and i created this for young basketball players to use as a source to find helpful drills and tips to improve your game. Also, if you are an experienced player checking this out, please feel free to add what you think is necessary, like any drills, plays, eating tips, anything that helps the young genaration of basketball!! Hope you enjoy!! And i'll try to get in every other day to update on any drills that can be done in the off season either by your self or with a partner or two because I'm pretty sure we aren't with our full basketball squads 24/7... so i hope this helps in bringing out the beast in you!!
